This may be an odd question, but I’m stumped. And I’m not talking about obvious things like gray hair and wrinkles. But when it’s not obvious.

For example, here is a more recent picture of Cindy Crawford:

No wrinkles or anything... yet you can tell she’s a middle-aged woman.

Compare that to when she was young:

There is nothing specifically that I can see that would make her look older (wrinkles, saggy skin, etc). So what is it that makes people look younger or older whencthere is no obvious signs?

For your troubles:

Genetics combined with healthy lifestyle and taking care of yourself is key. She also has access to the best in skincare and non-evasive cosmetic procedures that counteract aging.

Yes, but you can still tell she’s not 20.

That’s what I’m asking. How can we tell she’s not 20 anymore when there are no obvious signs like gray hair, sagging skin, wrinkles, etc.

What is it in that picture that makes her look her age even though she looks great for her age?

Def the skin & wrinkles, mostly around the eyes & lips. The picture is heavily photo shopped.

Just what I mentioned. She takes care of herself and does small things to counteract aging. I suspect fillers and thread face lifting combined with a great skin care regimen.

Does anyone else hate those marks women sometimes have on their faces?

Probably not best to provide examples of those who have had some type of facelifts, etc.

To answer your question:
1. Women in their 20s many times still has that "baby fat" around their faces. Not fat as in Baptist woman buffet eater, but that little bit of puffy skin around the cheeks that gives her the appearance of smooth skin.

2. As she ages into the 30s, this goes away and then you can start to tell some things around her eyes.

3. By her 40s, you can begin to see a bit of crow's feet around her eyes, can still maintain pretty facial features.

4. 50s begins the drop into wrinkles, etc. graying hair.

Now all of this gets invalidated 2 ways:

getting fat
getting into meth.

Further, smoking accelerates all of these processes.

No, she still looks her age. She just looks really good for her age.

But she still looks her age. She doesn't look 25, but what I'm saying is I can't point out anything that makes her not look 25.

I'm trying to figure out what that is that makes her look 45 when there is nothing obvious I point to that makes her look 45 instead of 25.

While her skin is in great shape... It doesn't have the suppleness and pigmentation that she had when she was 25

Also, we all know that she is old, so her looks can't trick you.

I'm almost 40 and people routinely think I am in my early 20's.
