agreed

so let me know when they close the Confederate Museum across the street from where Lee's statue once stood

the argument that removing a statue is erasing history is asinine

The problem is if many Dems had their way they would. Taking down the statues isn't the end of the world (I think it's stupid because it solves nothing either way), but the problem is that's where it starts. Many on the left have made it no secret that they want to get rid of everything they deem racist. Where does that stop? Where do they draw the line with themselves? That's the problem, not the statues, but the statues are where it starts.

I opened this thread expecting the OP about the fact the French Quarter smells exactly like a mix of stale piss and general landfill.

You know what it doesn't smell like anymore?

General Lee.

. how many murders could have been prevented if we had just let Robert E Lee sit atop his pedestal in the middle of the city???

Good question. Probably a lot if they would have used that two million dollars to beef up the police force.

i have a hard time believing taking down those statues was the beginning of a snowball that will result in closing museums.

It's a huge waste of funds. That's the problem.

The only place I see the statues being discussed is on tigerdroppings. Apparently the rest of the world moved on.

I know the difference between fact and opinion. If you believe spending money on giant pieces of metal is more important than fixing crime in New Orleans then you're a fricking moron.

If by our landfills and the people who work there, then yes. But don't get me wrong. I love NO and I love the French Quarter. I am of French decent myself. But if we're being honest with each orher you have to admit the place stinks to high heaven.
