is how much crime could have been prevented by not removing the statues. how many murders could have been prevented if we had just let Robert E Lee sit atop his pedestal in the middle of the city???

You gotta think long-term dude. Robert E. Lee would have killed many more people over the next few decades if he hadn't been stopped. Short term loss and long term gain is better than the opposite.

I opened this thread expecting the OP about the fact the French Quarter smells exactly like a mix of stale piss and general landfill.

Look at the bright side. This only further proves their rank hypocrisy. Gives them one less tree to hide behind. Their lies, their deception, their corruption is even more exposed now.

They are failures and have condemned all the decent people in that place to live in fear as the dregs of the city overrun it and continue to be emboldened by actions and policies like these.

You want change? You have to make things uncomfortable to the point of being unbearable until action happens. The pendulum must swing full arc before it comes roaring back. So the further to the edge it is pushed the the more forceful the push back will be.

So now, since logic has no place, I say damn any compromise. If they'll take something then let them come and take it. Give them no quarter. Fight tooth and nail for everything worth a damn or not at all.

No half measures.

Scorched earth. Damn the consequences.

But would have been less than the criminals?

New Orleans needs more statues of military people from the confederacy made out of white marble to remind criminals to not be criminals. The South can only take so much oppression before it wants to fight (in fairness, that was mainly South Carolina that was instigated into action).

You should move to Houston or out of state. That will help.

The statues don't end or condone crime. Taking them down did not end or help to end racism. The best way to repeat history is to ignore it.

Your opinion is just as stupid the people that think taking the statues down ended racism in the city.
