Hire quality people and they will refer you quality people. This is part of it. Plus CFA does a good job of interviewing asking behavioral and situational type questions. At Popeye’s, if you can write your name on a job application, you’ll get hired.

Part of the answer is recognizing that people do not solely work for $$$. Once a financial need is established, please have other needs...chief among them is self-worth/self-value and much of that need is fulfilled by feeling you belong to something important and that your work is a real contribution to the team mission.

This is what good employers do. Turnover is unproductive and expensive. Smart employers value people beyond a paycheck.

Dunno, but my local Chick Fil A looks like a high school SR project. I swear even the shift manager has to still be in high school.

And they run circles around every other fast service in the area.

Like it or not, the leadership of CFA operate their business on the morality and ethics of the Bible. Below is the Bible's ethic on work, and this no doubt contributes to the culture that they have built, which now attracts like minded people to them:

quote:

Colossians 3:23-24
23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for[a] you serve the Lord Christ.

They only hire evangelicals and then managers yell at them that they are going to hell if they don't smile at the customer no matter how big of a shitbird the customers are being.

It's a great organization headed by great people. Dan Cathy also plays a mean trumpet.

I have no clue on the pay difference to others, but it seems like what makes them care about their jobs is the fact that Chick Fil A has high standards for each restaurant and is consistent at making sure those standards are always held. That makes it where everyone knows what to do and how to do it. I feel like many other franchises want that but do not hold all stores accountable since you go to one place where food and service is great but down the road complete opposite experience.
I almost see it as a classroom where the teacher has great classroom management/standards and class ran like a machine but then next door the teacher is in chaos because they either don't know how to manage the class or the students just do not know what the rules and standards are so all over the place.

And yes I am bored at work so longer comment!

RC refers to their associates as "Ladies and Gentlemen", as in, "The Ladies and Gentlemen of the Ritz Carlton New Orleans appreciate you staying with us". Stuff like that costs zero dollars and yet can have a huge impact on employee morale, which in turn, makes a better experience for their customers.

RC also empowers the employees with the ability to make things right for the customer. Like it doesn't have to be the front desk doing this. It could be the bell hop, janitor, security or whomever.

The consistency with which Popeyes can hire terrible employees is impressive.

I’d assume the hiring managers actually require a resume and an interview

They actually staff enough.

This is a large part of it.

Companies today are trying to maximize productivity with the least amount of employees while expecting to maintain high customer satisfaction.

That formula sucks for employees.

And you can apply it to all kinds of industries.

Pharmacies-

One/two pharmacists with 3 techs doing 400+ prescriptions is just nuts. But these companies don’t want to hire more people. Hiring more people would also help alleviate wait times. But they don’t care if you have to wait.

If you had plenty of employees to help spread the work, I would love to go to work.
