They do seem to get upset, very upset, when citizens enforce the laws. Very, very, insecure about their jobs. Most likely because since it doesn't take education there is no job security and if citizens start doing the job it cuts into their graft and corruption "earnings".

You'd think they'd be grateful for citizens tracking down thieves and burglars. Frees up more time for the cops highway robbery.

Property crime is a "civil matter".

Cops don't want to be bothered with that crap.

There used to be an old city cop in Vinton, who mostly wrote tickets in I-10 when it opened. He could not read or write and had speeders write their own tickets.

It’s a tough question because they all seem to be dealing with a lot of undisciplined cops. Society is changing so whatever decline is taking place in the population is also carrying over into LE as well.
You have a conversation with a retired cop who worked 20 - 30 years ago and then talk to a current LEO. The difference in attitudes is mind blowing.

Burglary is not a property crime, which lies under the LA statute of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, a felony.
