My parents are working out of two fridges. And two deep freezers. For two 80 yr olds that don't eat but toast due bfast and split every meal now I think..maybe they didn't need to keep four things full of food

Forget security passwords or questions to stuff like banking websites etc and then expects me to figure out their password. My dad is the worst. I get it he's 83 and forgetful, hell I forget lots of stuff at 54 but I implore him to write it down and hide it someplace but he wont/refuses. He doesn't even have to store the written down passwords at his place, just give them to me because I'm getting the phone call when he's locked out after too many tries.

My dad calls me every couple months because he accidentally pushed some button on one of his 3 remotes (tv, sound system, cable box) and now the tv doesn’t work.

I have a roku remote with like 5 total buttons that controls everything and he needs me to figure what combination of the 100+ buttons he has to get the tv to work again.

My mother puts plastic utensils in the dish washer and uses them over and over again. I always tell her to just use the regular utensils..

If she could, she would probably wash Styrofoam plates as well.
—so? How does that harm you?
Look at it another way, the more money she saves, the more she’ll have to leave to you.

My mom keeps things that needs to be thrown away or set on fire. She puts all of it in her front yard at that!

My dad got his first cell phone a couple of years ago. Every voice mail I get from him is exactly 2 minutes long because he doesn’t hang up after finishing his message. He just sets his phone down. 10 seconds of him talking, 110 seconds of silence and random noises.

My dad will do the same frequently. He will say bye and then just put the phone in his pocket without ending the call lol.

Possibly related but he butt dials me and my siblings several times a day

It’s harmful to her, plastics break down in the dishwasher and who knows what that shite is slowly doing to her health or mind. She’s already forgetting more shite every day. At 85 she still lives on her own, and forgets what she ate for breakfast.

Buy stuff on sale just because it's a good price.

My mom has been gone almost 40 years but I still laugh sometimes when I think of quirky little things she did.
Sometimes it’s based on growing up poor ( she really didn’t) and some times, in her case, she just thought something she got was something she didn’t deserve.
When we cleaned out the house, we found all kinds of items that were unopened…bedding, towels, kitchenware, etc.
Still, she was a sweet kind spirit that had some bad luck along the way but managed to smile through it all.

My parents always arrive at everything 30 minutes before it starts.

I did this way before I got old. For me, it’s to avoid the anxiety of being late, even for sporting events. I have empty-stadium photos of nearly every game I’ve attended in 20 years.

Cherish every fricking second of it, even if you don't understand. Soon, you won't be able ask why.

Buddies grandma grew up this way. Even after getting indoor plumbing that old Cajun lady would be outside tending her chickens, lift her dress and pee in the yard

If you dont have regular utensils then I wouldn’t see an issue.

But why not just use the normal utensils and put those in the dishwasher?

Dropped in to visit my grandmother and she was watching a divorce court show on tv. She told to sit down and started telling me how the husband was telling lie after lie. She wanted me to call the court (wherever that was) and tell them she knew a liar when she heard one and for someone to go tell the judge.

She was sweet loveable person, RIP.

Grandma used to wash and reuse Ziploc bags, and she was no where near poor. I never understood why she put the effort into that.

I had some relatives that lived through the Depression that were very frugal. Was a tough time to be a farmer.

They didn't trust banks either. Had stacks of cash stashed in the house.

My dad used to seal all kinds of items in vacuum sealer bags. It could be a coin, campaign pin, box of matches, pens or any other thing he thought would be good to preseve for whatever reason. He died 15 years ago. About a month ago, my wife and I were reorganizing a closet. There was a box in there that had several sealed bags of his items he preserved. They were as perfect as the day he sealed them. It was a quirky little habit he had but made me smile when I found them.

My old one (15 year old Honda) still starts on the first pull, but the tires are bald, the blades need to be replaced, and the gears in the self propel gearbox are slipping. Too much shite to fix.
If you are a thalidomide baby, then I agree those fixes are onerous.

Otherwise nah.

I've got a 13 year-old Honda commercial self-propelled walk behind mower (bough new) for a lawn that takes less than 30 minutes to entirely cut.

(I only mulch, never bag)

So I use it about 30 times per year for a total of ~15 hours annual run time.

I am on blade set number 5 or 6 and tires set number 3.

The blade replacement takes about 10 minutes as do the wheels replacement.

I clean it completely over the Winter each year.

If you cut your own lawn, you can at least do those minor issues.
