His paws are fairly small which is another reason I thought he might have some small breed like a terrier.

From the picture he looks WAY to small to be a Plott at 5 months. An adult Plott dog will be near 60 pounds and a bitch mid-40s. His face isn't right for a hound pup either.

That dog is going to catch the ghey being dressed up like that. The shape of his face looks houndish but the ears don’t match. Great color pattern.

There is a brindled Pit/Dachshund in my neighborhood, he is the same length and height as my Basset with a miniature Pit block head and feels like he was poured from cement when you pick him up. They love each other because they both are height challenged.
