Taking a woman to dinner is a terrible idea for an early date. You don't do that until you have at least half a dozen dates under your belt. The more a woman learns about you, the less attracted she will be. Women will fill in the gaps of what they don't know about you with fantasy. Which goes away the more they learn. It's best to remain mysterious which is intriguing.

Going in a dinner date puts you in her frame from the get go. It's a tough situation. Again it's hard to demonstrate value and confidence when you are sitting at a table.
