What kind of bikes are the OT dad's using these days?

My son is now old enough that the family can go bike riding. The last bike I owned was a trek mountain bike back in 1995. I don't need a fancy racing bike but something comfortable to cruise around on. Thanks.

Trek is still good stuff. Can pick one up for around $500.

But you have to push the handle bars far up where the grips are sticking at an almost straight up level

Get one of the Trek hybrid bikes. Heavier road bike frame, but larger tires. Not mountain bike off-road stuff, but not sleek triathlon road bike. Kinda in the middle. Just google trek hybrid, there are a ton.

Get one with a banana seat so you can impress all the milfs in the neighborhood

I was in the same boat as you this spring. Didn't want to go crazy and become a road warrior but I didn't want to buy a crap bike or spend a ton of money.
I went fairly cheap with a hybrid Walmart bike and have not been disappointed.
Granite Peak RoadMaster
Bought a new seat and have enjoyed since.
Not saying it's amazing. It's held up to running around with kids and some 10 mile bike rides on my own.

That one looks good. I have a Mango brand. It has 3 speeds and 3.5 in. tires.

Just go to the academy and get one you like.

Depending on the hood you live in. Maybe this?

Anything from academy or the likes is complete junk. If you don't want to spend like $600 on a bike, buy a used one from a bike shop.

Please explain exactly what differences someone looking to ride around his neighborhood a couple times a week with his son would notice enough to validate a purchase of $600+. He's not looking to go try to be side mirror targets riding the river road in rush hour traffic. What bike shop you own bruh?

Probably the same reason you don't buy shoes from Payless.

Specialized Pitch Sport, nothing spectacular. I take it on trails with no problems.
