Exactly. They buy there because it's cheap and in the city. Then comes the new restaurants, craft breweries, you know...all that terrible hipster crap, then the real estate prices go way up.

There are different levels of gentrification. Are we looking at Manhattan or Brooklyn as an example? Then yea, I can see an issue. As of now, we have a massive shite hole where even millions wouldn't put us an inch closer to that extreme. People just love to bitch, that's what it boils down to.

I agree with he general sentiment in this thread. In fact I hope they build more section 8 housing and projects near the quarter and in metairie. Any time there is high property value in a neighborhood it really hurts some people who can't afford rent there anymore. It's a bullshite system. Who wants to reward people for working hard and improving parts of the city.those people are the scum of the earth.
I also hope the government passes a law in lousiana that forces all assessments of property to not be over $10,000 so everyone regardless of life status can afford to live wherever they want.
frick improving the city or raising up the downtrodden neighborhoods I've seen blighted and run down my whole life.we should be focusing on making sure everyone can pick and choose where they want to live regardless of price or consequences.

They don't buy shite. They rent .and once they start renting people start buying the houses around them and driving up the rent for their friends. But the majority of them don't buy. You can't buy a house when your yearly income comes from hanging out at the park and occasionally riding a petty cab.

You have a very warped and limited understanding of hipsters. And I'm about as far from a hipster as one can get.
And aside from that, I've seen that the gentrification process is fueled by young professionals more than hipsters.
