What is your opinion of people who are quick to set up GoFundMes?

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but before you post, "My opinion is to mind your own business," hear me out. What do you think about people who post GoFundMes for any little issue that pops up in life?
Case in point: that 3 year old who disappeared a few weeks ago and was found safe in the woods. He's fine, but his family set up a GoFundMe, for some reason.
Someone adopts a pet that needs medical treatment- GoFundMe.
Someone's uncle dies- GoFundMe with a $60,000 goal.
I can understand if it's for something like medical bills or a sudden emergency, but most of them just irritate me. Is this "internet pan handling" something that just the "new" generation is okay with? I'd be embarrassed to ask for money for some of the things people ask money for.

Nothing more than panhandlers. If you need money, provide a service. Feed people shitty jambalaya and have a benefit dinner. Wash cars badly. Buy a shotgun and raffle it off. Do SOMETHING for the people who you are asking to help you.
Don't fricking beg.

Neutral?
I guess it depends on the reasons.

Cyber begging.
And unless for a legit good cause, you have to hope it goes stupid viral.

I've never considered giving to a gofundme.

I think a lot of reasons people set them up are insane, however, if people are willing to donate then I don’t really see a problem

I’m setting up a go fund me now for the time I wasted reading your useless post.
Oh and the mental damage you caused, it’s irreversable at the point.
Your post is awfull and people should pay me for it.

They're interweb beggars.
Just like the homeless guy on Siegen, they're asking for a handout.

For a legit cause, I think it is a fantastic mode of fundraising.
However, for the vast majority, I consider them to be nothing more than modern-day panhandlers.
I suppose, since they really aren't intrusive like normal panhandlers, if people want to give their cash, I have no problem with that.

While gofundme.com has helped people who needed financial help in a time in which the reason they needed it was beyond their control, there seems to be a lot of people who are quick to start one for someone else or start one for things they want.
With that said, what drives the site is those who actually donate and if people want to give their money to whatever.. That's their right.. So there are situations in which gfm accounts are set up for that I don't agree with, but it's not my place to judge. One thing I have learned is that there are a lot of people who don't have much "self pride".
