What is Your Favorite Engineering Marvel in the World?

It can be ancient or modern engineering, your choice.
Mine would probably be the Roman aqueducts. It's incredible that they still stand today even though they were built with stone. And were thousands of miles long. Incredible.
I'm no engineer and don't know much about it. But I'm watching "Impossible Engineering" right now on the Science Channel and they're talking about the tallest bridge in the world right now. To me, engineers are the smartest people in the world.

today I saw a piece of water pipe that was made of wood and was buried in the ground over 200 years ago...not likely done by engineers, but it is amazing to me that it lasted so long. I am not sure any infrastructure that we build today will be around 200 years from now.

I made a bad arse tee support once. I think they took it down though. Got in the way of some pipe

Modern:
The Falkirk Wheel in Scotland
It's not the most complex but it's pretty damn cool.
Ancient:
Newgrange Stone Age Site in Ireland (Winter Soltice-based)

The landing on the moon, and safe return to Earth.

What's amazing about that is the tech they did it with. Slide rules and pencils.
The engineers from the late 1800's up till handheld calculators were some seriously bad mother frickers.

I always liked the Kansai airport in Japan
They didn't have room for an airport so they made room

The Saturn boosters, command module and, lunar lander, were unbelievable feats of engineering. My Dad was a engineer during the Apollo program. A slide rules, mechanical desktop calculator, and a book of function tables were the standard tools.

Whatever you pick as the world's greatest engineering marvel will collapse tomorrow.
