live in the city and I’ll go get gas and groceries in Jefferson now.
Yup - I do that in BR - most of my shopping is done in Livingston Parish
I grew up in NOLA - in the city - Covid killed my very strong desire to move back, now I have to get out of BR

If my kid were starting high school I would make it Very clear to Jesuit, brother Martin, holy cross, etc… that my kid will be at rummel or Shaw and enjoy freedom and liberty

I'm there. No desire to go anywhere near Nola for any festival, restaurant, the zoo, etc.
went to Christmas in the oaks and hope to not be back any time soon.

Wife asked me about going to the zoo the other day. Told her I'd rather go to BR Zoo. That was the end of the conversation because she knows how shitty I think that zoo is.

At what point would you no longer send your kid to school to at Stuart Hall or CBS or Brother Martin or MCA or Jesuit or Dominican
Too bad you didn’t go to some of these schools. They could have taught you about the comma.

Did my lack of adding a comma between schools confuse you on what I was trying to say? I get it. You’re good sending your kid to school in OP even though masks could be still a thing and there is a much much higher chance of some criminal activity happening bc of the experience/education they may get there. Your breaking point is higher.
I guess I get the Archdiocese of NO not pushing back bc of all the legal trouble they are already in but I think they could. St. Patrick’s church downtown has NOT restricted one thing from the being of the pandemic so they could push back or just ignore if they wanted to. I don’t even think Teedy would be dumb enough to walk into a Church or Catholic School and start arresting people for not wearing a mask. I am disappointed in Jesuit who has a ton of clout and is not under the archdiocese for not pushing back and going along to get along. The CBS parents were the biggest driving force it seemed for the temporary mask lift in January.
I’m just saying people think Nola will be fine but this just feels different. Before even though the city had its problems with crime, you had the feeling that criminal justice system and police were at least working hard to maintain order. Also you felt that they were CAPABLE of handling large crowds and festivals. Now the NOPD is WOEFULLY understaffed and “handcuffed” with what they can do. Also shaming people bc people commit random acts of violence is basically the norm and that is just so depressing (your car wouldn’t have been stolen while you pump gas in the middle of the day in a crowded parking lot if you just would have kept your fob in your pocket you dummy. You were basically asking for it to be stolen).
Criminals KNOW that if they pull shady things in JP:
1) There will be a very fast response
2)There is a much higher chance of apprehension bc of 1
3) There is a much higher chance of not walking away at all if they don’t comply with officers when they are apprehended
4) There is a much higher chance of getting the book thrown at them by JP Criminal Justice System as opposed to a slap on the wrist from NO.

I haven't been since August. I don't plan to go back. I don't need anything from New Orleans.

I’m curious to see the size of the crowds at the Metry parades this weekend. In 2020, Metry parades were an afterthought. Bc of the crime issues, will people choose Metry instead bc of the “easiness” of actually attending the parade?
Metry parades now start in a heavily residential area so people with kids can easily see the parade at an early time without traveling too far and having an easy time finding neighborhood parking. Let’s be honest, even die hard MG people have to admit that getting to/from St. Charles to watch a parade is very time consuming. You can get to the Metry parades in a fraction of the time.

The bad part is that the cockroaches in NO will migrate into NELA. We don't want them here, either.

Orleans is worse, but crime doesn't plummet when you cross the parish line.
I agree but at least JPSO is responsive and is “tough” on criminals. Crime is still a concern in JP but at least it doesn’t go unpunished.
There is a story in the local news comparing JPSO and NOPD. Apparently JPSO shot and killed someone in a car that refused to leave the car and started to use the car as a weapon to run over the cops (and then he was shot). Apparently, that is a no no for NOPD. They are supposed to not engage in that situation. I would think criminals would at least somewhat know this and act accordingly (why steal JP cars when stealing OP cars is a lot less risky and there are still plenty available cars to be stolen).

Trust me, they all know, but what do you expect them to do? Pick up and move?
Catholic education is struggling in general everywhere and adding crime to the list only adds strain.

What happens if they just ignore it? What will NO do to them?
Jesuit will probably be fine no matter what. If I was BM, I would be more concerned. A huge chunk of BM’s student body comes from JP. Obviously I could be way off base bc BM enrollment doesn’t seem to be affected.

At one Catholic elementary school in a well to do area of Jefferson Parish where most of the girls nearly all went to MCA and Dominican in previous years, there was a complete shift to Archbishop Chapelle. Their open house was done without Covid restrictions and the kids are not wearing masks now, they didn't pander to the Woke summer of 2020, and you don't have to worry about the crime in New Orleans. The boys however did not see a comparable shift to Rummel.
Saw that out of our JP Catholic elementary as well

Right now, the city is victim to the latest leftist crime-fighting ideology. This isn't Minneapolis, Portland, or Seattle. Those style policies do not work here, for obvious reasons if you think about it for two seconds.
Here’s a newsflash for you: they don’t work there, either.

Chappelle has definitely adopted the go woke go broke mantra. I know there were rumblings at MCA with the admins pushing the masks (when it was optional) and pushing the vaccines that made parents upset. Dominican has some of the same complaints (them distancing themselves from Amy Barrett definitely hurt feelings of a lot of their alums).
My understanding is the boys schools though still requiring masks are really lax about it and really aren’t pushing the vaccines outside of LHSAA making it a pain as it pertains to sports. Though I did hear that the OP schools are requiring vaccination proof or negative test to watch indoor sporting events.

So yes to Rummel and to Delgado. Rummel is quite the feeder school for the Harvard of city park.
Is your wife a Chapelle/molar beauty graduate too?
Blue collar Power couple imo.
