don’t know the answer to this but i don’t see the high schools being affected. There are just not “affordable alternatives” in JP that many people would be willing to consider. This New Orleans conversation has been around for years but BM, MCA, Jesuit and Dominican still have the highest enrollment as far as i know. And CBS is busting at the seams
These are Great institutions in NOLA; but, private security and off street parking will need to happen IMO if not already. I don’t know.

Sure there are. Obviously Jesuit will be less affected but it should be concerning to the others. Hell some of them have bought into the madness. A lot of the shine for the Nola schools is status. Is CBS or Holy Name any better than St. Catherine or St. Ann or St. Phillip, etc. People love to dig on Rummel but you can clearly get a solid education with good Catholic formation there.

As stated in my post, I am specifically referring to high schools. On the elementary side I agree. But by and large the “affordable” private high schools are in Orleans parish.

I've already made it clear to my wife that none of our money will be spent there, and she was fine with that.

With the added benefit of freedom from face diapers and a much much lower risk of being car jacked (maybe bc those kids are driving their folks old Ford Ranger and not a brand new BMW,

Rummel and Chappelle not affordable? Hell Haynes is FREE and has comparable National Merit Scholars as Jesuit.
I agree that Jesuit is still in a class of its own but to think BM and HC are closer to Jesuit “educationwise” than Rummel is just off base. MCA is cashing in a lot being in LV where there are still a ton of young people and let’s be honest school pride is HUGE with metro NO folks especially the females.

Maybe it’s just anecdotal but everyone restaurant we go to in Orleans is usually packed. It doesn’t seem to be affecting habits that much.

So are Metry restaurants. That wasn’t the case before.

At what point would you no longer send your kid to school to at Stuart Hall or CBS or Brother Martin or MCA or Jesuit or Dominican, etc? At what point, would you stay away for festivals and MG? At what point would you say living Uptown or LV is just not worth the added BS, inconvenience and cost for what you are paying to live there. Is there a point where even die hard New Orleanians say enough is enough?
For me it was last April when I moved my residence out of Orleans Parish. I sold all of my real estate holdings in Orleans Parish and 1031 exchanged them to St. Tammany or out of state, and moved my business all out of Orleans Parish.
There is no question the rise in interest rates are going to be the catalyst for a significant reduction in demand for Orleans Parish so it was better to cash out now because I don't want to be left holding the bag when the City Council and Mayor approve more tax increases on property owners next year.

I think the biggest clue to haul arse would be that the Mayor, DA and most of the constituents despise you.

Havent spent a dollar in that parish since a double Titos and water at the start of the 4th quarter during the 2020 Natty...no plans to change that anytime soon. The only event that might consider me to change that would be the crescent city classic.

We moved our office out of downtown and to Metairie end of 2020 for a handful of political and regulations the city installed during the pandemic. We moved just before crime spiraled out of control. Our old parking garage, which was previously incredibly secure, has had multiple break ins so my staff is very thankful for the move.
I’m almost to the point of moving our entire business out of LA because it’s becoming harder and harder to operate within the confines the state regulations while the surrounding states are doing everything they can to make operating as easy as possible. It’s tough because I love this place and have always wanted to give back to the place that gave me everything but at some point benefit is no longer there.

I truly don't see the value proposition of Metairie if you don't want anything to do with New Orleans. You're paying for the proximity.
Without having to pay the price to live there but I hear you if too many people move their business out of state then Metairie (hell the whole area including across the lake is hurt)

Lots of pussies and divas in this thread.
Stay away from NOLA.
We don’t want you here.

you. I am very curious how long folks will put up with the Nola BS and still send their kids to school there
I’ve already started looking into alternatives. My kids will not attend school in Orleans Parish unless things drastically change in the next 8 years or so

Family, friends, and business are all in Jefferson parish.

My first breaking point was when I was working in New Orleans in the 80s and got sick of everywhere either being run or controlled by the mob.
Went back to LSU in 86. Graduated, got a job in BR, bought a house and then made the mistake of getting married. Wife got accepted to UNO graduate program.
Got a job in New Orleans and bought a house. Looking for work I found that in order to actually do business there you had to contribute to someone's campaign fund. It didn't even really matter whose. Buying the house made me realize how different City Hall operated down there compared to BR. WAY more expensive just to file the paperwork, much less all the higher insurance rates.
Came back to BR after about 3 years. Now the crime is so out of control there, I pretty much just go down to see Mom.
I miss the mob.
