I used to do this a lot when I had 13 or 12 and the dealer had 15 or better and would be taking a card. Other players get really pissed when you do this. There is an etiquette that should be followed regarding when to take a card. I no longer play because of this.

In the situation where you are dealt a 16, you have to realize that you’re probably going to lose, and you need to simply deal with that fact.

LOL! Blackjack Guru? Mitigate the loss and surrender.

Let me ask you a question. Do you know why they were pissed? I do. Sounds like you don't.

It is the best of all bad options IMO. You are probably gonna lose. What is your best chance of winning is the play.

I rarely see people surrendering. When I do, I want to play at that guy's table. He knows what he's doing.

Play the odds to get the house advantage down as low as possible. Drink as many free drinks as possible to turn the house advantage to my advantage.

I do know why they are pissed. However, it is my money and I gambling it. I think we all should be able to play the way we want even if it isn't supported by probability.

Sounds like you are the reason why people like me don't play. I am sure it is best for everyone.

Definitely. BJ is one of the few games where your play affects other players.

That’s because a lot of casinos don’t allow you to anymore.

Also, a bunch of casinos have moved to 8 decks in the shoe. Basic strategy flies out the window when you add another 2 decks. Harrah’s is poster child for this. A 6 deck game doesn’t exist on the floor. You can only find a 6 deck game in High Limit.
