Crazy isn't it? That guy could have been a top 15 finisher at Footlocker Nationals with that time in 1983, but he only got 32nd in whatever state he ran in. Go figure.

must have been louisiana

Uuhhh, hey smart guy. 5ks aren't long distance.

Running 20+ minutes at a steady rate is long distance cardio.

3 miles isn't long to run, it's rather easy. But training to have a good 5k time requires long distance cardio training, which makes you skinny and weak. Better than a fattie though

but I didn't start running them til my mid 40's.

So, by extrapolation, I would've run a 16:00 5k in high school, running uphill all the way in penny loafers, because my mother forgot to pack my sneakers that day for school.

I would post my time but I can't remember what time I posted last time one of these threads popped up.

I turkey trotted to the dinner table 3 times on Thanksgiving, that's why I'm trying to keep my arse up and moving

I think the LSU media guide lists your collegiate best at 14:10.

These two statements conflict with each other.

It is for fat people... Actually long distance runners (not me) tend to scoff at 5k people.

Yeah it's pretty conflicting. Pretty narrow minded also. Considering 3 miles is an average cardio day for a lot people who lift... Sounds like a fat dude that squeezes into his shirts thinking he's buff. Fat arms =/= awoke.

When I was in the military routinely under 20 minutes

I ran the 1 1/2 mile test in 8:30 a few times

I don't know about a 5k but my best 3 mile was an 18:55...only two tenths of a mile shorter than a 5k I think.

i typically fall in the mid 20s currently but that's because I just run on a treadmill since I know of no good trails to run in laffy. I use to look forward to running the LSU lakes for obvious reasons.

High school state meet I ran a 17:30. Placed 27th in class A bracket.

All of the running for nothing. I was already thin back then, too.

I usually get 10 paces away from the finish line before waking up, but I know I was running a good 6.48 mile avg.

Congrats on being retarded, and all the benefits that go with that.

19:05 btw, 5ks are fun distance and a great warm up for a solid lift session.

3:14 Full Marathon
I been trying to break into the 17 minute range for a couple months. I log about 65 miles a week though. My main focus is trying to get under 3 hours for the marathon distance.

17:25 high school cross country

I'd be lucky to break 24 minutes right now
