It's strange, but I can curve an iron shot around a tree/hazard like a pro. Pretty much every other facet of my game blows unfortunately

I only hit 41% fairways and 43% greens
Nowhere close to the 70-80% required here

165?
Stock 7 iron with a baby draw.

Looks about right to me. I may have said more than 235, but less than 260.

165 under pressure? I would hit a hard trapped 9 iron if there is no wind, otherwise its a stock 8.

My Adams 6 hybrid off ground slight cut from far right of box.

I'll be honest... I would play the ball slightly back in my stance, choke down slightly on a six iron, and take a 3/4 swing, while focusing on my hands beating the club head back to the ball before impact, with a downward strike through the ball and a low finish position. With a very slight draw and a flighted down trajectory, the ball would carry 161 yards, hop once and then check up a foot or so just below and to the right of the pin.
Can I hit an 8 iron 165? Yeah. But the above plan produces a more consistent result, is less impacted by the wind, regardless of direction, and eliminates the big miss.
From there, I would three putt for bogey.

Always full shot. Normally a fade.

You know who will beat your arse on a golf course?
That 60+ year old with the Mizuno or Titliest blades with new grips. The guy that pulls out an 8 iron from 30 yards in, the guy that makes you putt the short ones. The old SOB's that never 3 putt, can't it far, but if in trouble can slice or hook around a tree.
I learned more from playing with these guys than I ever would playing with guys that could "crush it".

385 yds isn't crushed. It's eviscerated.
Crushed implies brute force. I have a surgeon's precision when I launch bombs that reach the better part of 4 bills.
That's the central business district.

I disagree. The name of the game is wedges. Hitting shots from 80-120 yards. Those guys never have that distance so you cant learn it.

Agreed. Those gimmicky little old fart shots don't hold up well to the climate with which we play.
We play it down, and putt it out. That's nothing new. Drop a few daisy cutters into the wind when they have to lay up, and they break down mentally, and subsequently, physically.
