Almost the same thing as the o p. We were fooling around with fire in a field next to the Bayshore freeway 101 just south of San Francisco just behind where we lived. The fire blew up so fast all we could do was run. Besides burning up the field which was just wild grass it burned a couple of billboards to the ground. I'm pretty sure it shut down 101 for a while. Like the opp, I still feel a bit guilty about it.

It reminded me to start the thread. My dad always brings up the fire because him and the neighbor kills a bunch of rabbits as they were running to get away from the fire. He was talking about it last night to me and I had to play poker face

That's pretty wild. Who's property was it on? Any OT farming experts know what the value of 100 acres of sugar cane is worth?

it doesn't matter that it burned. They probably made more money b/c of it. Gov't is always looking out for the farmers.

I burned down the Columbia River Gorge, saw some other kid playing with fireworks, blamed it on him.

I did a similar thing with a group of friends. We were playing with fireworks in a cane field just after grinding. This is when they are covered in the dead leaves and unharvested bits of the stalks. We lit a tiny section about 6 inches in diameter on fire just to see what would happen. Before we knew it, the section on fire was about 6 ft in diameter, and we couldn't put it out.

Mine looked like this:

We were scared shitless because the farmers kept driving down the street in their trucks and watching the fire. They were going to burn the field eventually, but they typically wait for the wind to blow the opposite direction of my neighborhood. We ended up smoking out the whole neighborhood. My parents punished me by making me think that the fire could jump the canal and catch someone's house on fire, so I spent the evening patrolling the canal and "protecting" everyone's yard. One of the dumber things I did as a child.

Well I have a similar story. My friend and I would walk home from middle school every day. We'd have to cut through the woods behind the football field and cross a large pipe across a creek. One day he pulled out a lighter and we started lighting stuff on fire. We'd let it burn a second then stomp it out with our feet. We did it like ten times before walking on.

Turned around and saw flames rising up into the trees. Burned the entire walking path and scorched the football practice field for the high school.

My friend took off running home and I - being the goody goody that I've always been - ran back to the school. Told someone there was a fire. They called the fire department. The school commended me for reporting the fire, and it took me years to accept that I wasn't going to jail for life.

I'll never forget the next morning on the bus ride to school seeing the aftermath of the fire. When I ran that afternoon, it was just some flames on bushes and the grass. Seeing the black-scorched earth with grey ash and apocalyptic stillness nearly choked me.

Around age 7, I killed our pet parakeet by holding his legs and doing the helicopter above my head. Worst beating of my life.
I ripped all the heads off my buddies Star Wars figurines. Blamed it on his little brother...... .
