I’m currently wearing an Argyle vest with a white short sleeve polo and Levi 514’s boot cut and Ariat steel toed boots.

Does it have any advantages over a jacket?

Keeps your core warm without adversely effecting the mobility of your arms?

The sweater vest under a coat is a pussy magnet.

It keeps your core temperature up and isn't as restrictive as a jacket. I don't wear them, but they do serve a purpose for warmth.

The advantage is it doesn't restrict your arms. Think of the puffy Marty Mcfly vest: keeps you warm while leaving your arms free to fight off dudes trying to rape your mom.

Yall must be talking about the super thick or puffy style jackets/vests. 90% of the vests I see around here are the North Face/Patagonia type. In those cases, the restrictiveness of the sleeves is way overstated.

I don't mind vests at all, but some in this thread are making it seem like you can't scratch your nuts or wipe your arse with a sleeved jacket.

I have this debate all the time with my buddy.

I understand the arm restriction thing, i.e. labor, golf, tennis, etc. But if you're just going to the office, I don't get it at all.

Whose core gets cold and needs to be warmed at a different temperature than their arms? Like this guy:

Why can't that guy just wear a quarter zip and warm his arms as well? Why short half your upper body?

To me its just a fashion piece that really doesn't serve a purpose. I don't think it looks bad, just doesn't make sense.

Do all these people who hate arm restrictions also wear tank tops in the summer?

Do you get a discount for the material they don't use?
