Barbeque shrimp at my mother in law's. Everything looked and smelled wonderful, until one of the shrimp popped like a cold grape in my mouth. She followed the recipe, but didn't factor in the frozen shrimp. I refuse to eat any food at her house now, unless I cook it, or cooked by someone else. Dont ever underestimate the backwash in a bottle of beer, it saved me that night.

It was chicken tikka (which I usually like) but this was disgusting. She tried a new place.

Green peppers. Yes, I gagged. Smell was bad, taste was far worse. Bitter.

Mussels in Chinatown NYC - tasted like dumpster smell
Pasta in NOLA - tasted like sewer-line smell, bad
Pizza in Mobile - tasted like dirt

Those bean-boozled jelly beans.

Stinky socks and rotten egg are the worst. We used to play a game where you close your eyes, pick one, then show it to the other player so they can see which one it is then you have to eat it.

I had fermented shark in Iceland. That was easily the worst thing I’ve ever eaten. But for some reason it’s a national dish.

Authentic Swedish black licorice. I still can’t get the taste out of my mouth.

Other people's sloppy joes. How hard is it to make a normal sloppy joe?

In Morocco, I suspect it was some part of a monkey. None of us were sure, but it was nasty beyond all description. I'll leave the details out.

It’s one of the few things I’ve ever seen Anthony Bourdain break over. You could normally tell whether he actually liked something based on his word choice, but when he ate a slice of that, he just broke. Said it tasted like urine and seemed to barely be able to keep it down.

I haven’t seen that episode in years and still remember that scene

Got a McDonald’s salad and bit into a rotten tomato. Now I don’t trust those little cherry tomatoes.

This. That Barf flavored bean haunts me to this day.

Without a doubt, escargot. I love oysters and clams and thought I'd give escargot a try. NOPE, didn't like the texture and really no taste unless it's slathered in some type flavored butter.
