Lol at people who consider Lexus flashy.. it’s the exact opposite .. nice, solid , reliable cars, but anything but flashy.. my last girlfriend drove one; i drove it a lot, and it rode very quiet.. but TOO quiet.. it’s like they dont want you to feel the road at all.. i like cars that are engineered for you to actually experience the act of driving .. then again, i like driving manual transmission cars the best.
Lexus makes probably the most comfortable, quiet, and reliable vehicles you can buy, and has one of the best resale values also.

My nephew inherited his grandmother’s 2001 GS300. It originally belonged to my BIL, who then gave it to his mother. I doubt she took very good care of it mechanically, but it has over 200,000 miles and is still running good. The most impressive thing is the interior. This is a 19 year old car, and the leather seats are still in fantastic condition. No tears, no fading. The wood grain and the rest of the interior are great. Every electric switch or knob works. Power mirrors still work.

Find me a 19 year old GM, Ford or Dodge product that has seats in that condition and the power mirrors work.

How does this work? Is it a lifetime powertrain warranty from the dealer?

How much did that cost?

It's free. Lifetime on power train and other components. Just have to follow the manufacturer book. If you need to do certain services, you have to do them. You have to change the oil when it says (have a 1,000 mile window). If you skip anything, it voids the lifetime. No deductible on the work. No money outta pocket. It covers front wheel or rear wheel drive components, 4x4, turbos....

You'll notice I said it was their words, not mine.

There are actually a lot of people of means who really don't like to show off (to them, a Lexus is a luxury car). This is also why GM sells a lot of vehicles under the Denali brand, a lot of folks don't want to buy or drive a Cadillac for the same reason.

Even though, once you option out a Avalon or a Denali, you are in Lexus/Cadillac territory, dollar-wise.

I had a 2000 Dodge Neon that went about 250000 miles. Only things I ever had to do to it was change the clutch, replace brake pads, and the alternator had to be changed twice.

Oh I definitely noticed that, i wasnt aiming my remarks at you.

I just thought it was interesting since i know people who would never drive anything that would be considered , in their words, a ‘look at me’ vehicle.. but some of them do, in fact, drive Lexuses because they are so low-key and non-flashy.

That's like more than all other Dodges combined.

Sounds pretty good. But it’s not “free.” You are going to pay a premium for oil changes and all the service work required.

Guess that’s cheaper than purchasing an extended warranty, which most people agree is not worth it.

We traded all of these in at the mileage listed after trouble-free ownership, but they all seemed to have a lot of life left in them.

2012 Honda Accord 140,000 miles
2007 Chevy Silverado - 220,000 miles
1986 Toyota 4Runner - 120,000 miles
1993 Toyota Camry - 140,000 miles
2003 Chevy Trailblazer - 140,000 miles

We had some diesel pickups and a Suburban with 300,000+ miles growing up, but I’m only talking about light duty trucks and cars here.

I got 160K out of 2007 Chevy Malibu. Never gave me any trouble. I turned it in because I wanted a newer car that I could connect my iPhone with and use the GPS Aps and hands free phone and text messaging.

Just think, there are people more low-key than that.

I just like fast stuff, and usually, that's kind of a "look at me" deal.

I'm not gonna drive another red sports car though, those things are friggin' cop magnets.

The new Lexus grill is a train wreck. We all look at them and marvel at how ugly it is.

80’s era Nissan Hardbody 4x4 with 425,000 miles.
My son still runs it as his hunting camp vehicle.
AC still cold.

Not a fancy vehicle vinyl floor and vinyl bench seat.

Jeep Grand Cherokees had a run of terrible years from about 2010-2017, so lots of people probably won’t believe me. But I bought my ‘04 JGC in 2007, and the thing has been an absolute hoss. Other than routine maintenance, I’ve only had to sink maybe $800 into it over the past 12 years.

Yeah, that was a big “swing and a miss” by Lexus.

They must not have bothered getting any feedback from consumers before they put it into production.
