Danny Rolling, the Gainesville Ripper, was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. That was one crazy dude.

In Lake Charles the KK's Corner murders is the most recent famous murders but for years it was Toni Jo Henry. She and her friend murdered Joseph P. Calloway after he picked them up hitchhiking. She was the only woman to be executed in Louisiana's electric chair (1942).

Huey Long assassinated.

Probably most infamous was Alton Sterling, but that piece of shite deserved killing for trying to pull a gun while resisting arrest. frick the Meteo Council for paying that fricktard's family a dime.

No. He was connected to the murders of 3 women in BR that took place in the 1999-2001 timeframe. I believe he was convicted of attempted murder in Lafayette, so who knows if he killed other women and where.

2 teenage girls were murdered and found in the back of their car after going to a party. They were my younger brother's age and both went to our church. One girl lived down the street. The murder was solved over 2 decades later due to DNA evidence. The murderer was found after a relative did an ancestry DNA site.

Candace Lynn Montgomery (née Wheeler; born November 15, 1949) is an American woman who was accused of murdering her former lover's wife, Betty Gore. The killing took place in Wylie, Texas, on June 13, 1980. During the assault, Gore was struck 41 times with a wood splitting axe. Montgomery pleaded not guilty to charges of murder on the basis of self-defense, alleging that Gore confronted her about the affair she had with Gore's husband and attacked her with the axe. She was acquitted.

She lives in Georgia now. I think she is a counselor.

We have had one in The Villages in 20+ years, so that would be the most famous one here.

After a dinner at one of the country clubs a man backed his car into another car. It barely made a dent, but a drunk coming out of the bar started yelling about the 85 year old guy hitting his car. The old guy tried to apologize and let the guy know he would fix his car, but the drunk hauled off and sucker-punched the old guy. The old guy's head was the first thing that hit the ground. His head split open on the pavement, and it was apparent he was seriously hurt.

The drunk then realized that the car wasn't his. In fact, he had come to the club in his golf cart. The drunk leaves the scene in his cart while everyone attended to the injured man.

Sadly, the old guy died at the hospital. The police couldn't figure out who did the punching, but they had good descriptions from many witnesses inside and outside of the restaurant.

Weeks went by with no arrests and then a man's picture appeared in the paper for making a hole-in-one. Tons of people recognized him immediately and called the police. He was arrested later that day.

In 1977 the Sonnier brothers, immortalized in Dead Man Walking, murdered David LeBlanc and Loretta Bourque near my ranch. Before David’s father, Lloyd, died a few years ago, he would help my neighbor repair his heavy equipment. He once asked me to keep my GSD away from him because it reminded him of his son’s dog. I heard him crying many times, asking “David, why’d you go out that night?”

Breonna Taylor's death.

That said, the 1988 Brenda Schaefer murder (Mel Ignatow) was a big case for older folks in the area. She was abducted, raped, and killed by Mel Ignatow and his girlfriend Mary Ann Shore but at the time of his trial there was no concrete evidence and he was acquitted. A year later a carpet layer found undeveloped pictures of her torture and rape and her jewelry in a vent in Ignatow's old home. Because of double jeopardy he couldn't be tried again and instead they gave him 15 years for perjury from his testimony in the original trial.

Karma also got his arse later when he died bleeding to death in his home after falling into a glass coffee table. They found a trail of blood from the table to another room, so it was likely long and painful.
