Doing what? You’re saying you’re paying $50k and it’s something no white gen Zer wants to do?
You’re part of the problem in my eyes.

We've had over a hundred jobs open since Covid. 60k -250k (for licensed personnel)
White kids avoid these jobs like the plague. Probably has something to do with the lack of cell service in some spots and drug tests.
Young white people will be surpassed by immigrants in their lifetime. Their only saving grace is their inheritance.

Doing what? I’m genuinely curious. I see people my age complaining about where all the high-paying jobs are.

Roger lives in Alaska. His situation is incredibly unique compared to most places in America.

We've told them they are special their entire lives. But the real world doesn't appreciate nor accept their "specialness". I admit I probably fricked my kids up by giving them too much. And not giving them a proper dose of real world shite

There is nothing unique about Roger living in Alaska. Here in LA, we have the busiest port system in the US with nice paying jobs all over it. Like Roger and plenty of people I talk to at various companies, most people can't pass a drug test.
If you can't give up smoking weed for a well paying job, I have no sympathy to give.

I work with union construction trades and have heard this -- even in tough times, the nuke plants and refineries have a lot of work. But, guys can't pass their piss/follicle test.

It's true. On the water, onshore at a plant, any industrial place with heavy machinery. More than half the people that walk in the door can't piss clean.
The jobs are there. They might not be the jobs people want though

I find it interesting that we have daily threads on this board about inflation, the cost of buying a starter home (if that even exists in a new build anymore), cost of buying a car, cost of groceries, etc. and then wonder why there's a whole generation that doesn't give a frick.
Maybe it's because they're reaping what previous generations have sowed and their outlook is pretty damn bleak as a result.

Are these places at a point where they may not be able to fill the positions to adequately continue to operate?

I'm not convinced of it as a theory, but since I talked about it in another thread:
I think the idea that you have to succeed and excel just to sustain the type of life you had when you didn't have obligations (ie, as a youth/teen) has to play some role.

They should consider this when they vote. But we both know they'll keep voting for more of the same stuff.

Well Op,
I would humbly suggest that you give them a performance expectation document and have them sign it.Then if they keep under-performing you can them.
You didn't give much info on what they were doing wrong. Are they drinking on the job and diddling the cleaning lady in the janitor's closet?

Plenty have workers picking up extra work, which those guys love and do it. Plenty are short of work though and operations are stressed. The larger companies can kind of absorb the extra work but finding employees is a struggle still

Our gov promoting dependence is one. Getting them caught up being gender confused, anti-American, and making them just plain weird, etc. The 2nd is Biden’s economy. If I were 25 and had no hope bc what is happening, why would I bother? Not everyone can be in at the top of the earning careers. Middle wage earners have the right to some of the American dream. It’s what we’ve always had. It’s disappearing.

I never would have gone to college if I was being paid like that!
Which is why I dropped out in year 2. Didn’t think it was worth the time or money. All I needed for this job was common sense and a good work ethic, things many my age lack. I plan on climbing the ladder and hopefully taking over one day.
