I wonder why health organizations outside of America or Israel do not also push circumcision if it is such a healthy practice.

Per the World Health Organization:
quote:

Male circumcision is almost universal in much of the Middle East, North and West Africa and Central Asia and is common in other countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea,Turkey and the United States of America (USA). It is also prevalent among certain ethnic groups in central, eastern and southern Africa.

Maybe it being very common and "pushed" by organizations are points of distinction you are trying to make, but it's a bit more widespread in terms of who does it than your original post led me to think you believe.

you know this is wrong, nurse. don't be part of the problem.

i'd like to see the other demographical info you have on the 'smelly' anteaters. most aren't your typical clean-shaven white males are they?

admit that the people you think 'smell' also have hygiene issues in other areas.

Maybe the one you came across didn't wash properly? I have a hard time believing there is a natural foreskin musk.

The same thing applies to a female who doesn't clean herself properly.

Having done a number of these myself and observed many many more, the kid usually sleeps through the procedure.

Or a circumcised man, for that matter. I know my meat'n'beans smell like hot mayo after an hour of sweating outside, no matter how thoroughly I cleaned them at first.

Circumcision is no longer covered by Medicaid and even some health insurances. So I wonder how much that plays into the decline. More and more hospitals do not even do it right after the baby is born. Now it's done more outpatient at a pediatricians office. Usually costs $400-500.

Around here, it's actually flipping back the other way. Medicaid has begun covering it in essentially everyone before leaving the hospital and in most neonates as outpatients as well.

I think our clinic's cash price is closer to $130.

Oh cry me a fricking river. I've assisted with circumcisions before. They inject the area with lidocaine to numb the area. Also, we give the baby sucrose(sugar water) to suck with a pacifier. Which is standard for other painful procedures(lab draws, IV starts, spinal taps, etc).

And guess what...the ones I assisted the baby was awake and sucked on their pacifier the entire time without a single cry.

Probably true. I'm glad that my wife is obsessive with cleanliness of the genitals.

At what age does the surgery become too much of a risk? What if a child is 6 or 7? 5?
