I hate drum brakes and electrical stuff.

Heater core is tough as you have to tear apart the dash to get to it
On a newer vehicle, as a diyer, auto transmission is way up there because you need a lot of space to lay everything out.
Bad grounds are tough too as one bad spot can throw off a lot of things.

After watching this experienced mechanic bash away with a big wrench on his wheel housing for 15 minutes trying to disassemble it, I decided to take it to a mechanic.
So, neither you, or the experienced mechanic understand that heating with a torch will work much better than bashing away?
"Men" these days are pathetic.

Chrysler
I had a Chrysler Town & County van once that had a fan relay that if failed, would fail in the CLOSED position. Which meant that the radiator fan would run until the battery drained down to nothing, thus ensuring a dead battery the next morning when you needed to go to work. And a very pissed off ME.
Unfortunately, this relay was mounted virtually inside the left front fender. You could literally see it from the fenderwell by pushing some plastic liner out of the way, but there was no way you could reach it with a wrench. I was quoted several hundred bucks to replace this$20 relay.
So I ordered one on Amazon, cut the cables, and just mounted it on the inside of the fender wall at a new location with a couple of sheet metal screws. Took every bit of ten minutes. And now you know why people think that Chrysler design engineers are demon spawned.
On a side note, I gave that van away to my brother, who needed something that would crank and at least get him down the road. He lived about an hour away. My son and my wife drove over to drop it off to my brother. I told her that if for some reason something went wrong on the way over, just leave it on the side of the road, I never wanted to see another Chrysler product parked in my driveway again. Ever.

especially on the newer vehicles. To pull the core out it will look like a bomb went off inside it. I did one on an Acadia that was a bitch.

It's not that bad if you use the right tools. It varies from one vehicle to another being the same exact model.

Cut the sound damping foam off your ground wires that's under your dash on the driver side by the windshield.

I used to build transmissions and did 16 before I had a problem with one. That is when I found out trans work wasn't for me, The 700r4 had 1300 parts in them and if it ain't right you have the fun of doing it ALL OVER AGAIN. Not for me....

Getting it out wasn’t a problem. Putting the new one in blind was difficult.

What is the hardest thing to fix in a car?
In reality, it's the loose nut that holds the steering wheel.

Emissions code. Like chasing the smokey dragon.

Depends on the car. I’d say electrical issues.

I got about 2,000 miles out of mine. 4L80E. The case split almost coast to coast
I put a brand new one out of box in it after that experience.

Changed a condenser in my truck once. I'll pay the $800 next time.
