2010’s for sure. People finally started being able to get others fired for saying things they didn’t like on social media. Plus we had the first half black president for the first half.

People think they grew up in the best decade, or within a decade of it. Shocker.

I'm sure teenagers don't give a flying shite about that.

Most 2010-2019 teens have seen more pussy in a year than you have in your life.

1980’s
Everyone had AC
Cable TV
CD players
VHS tape and VCR so you could watch movies at home and record shows.
Microwave was in full use.
Pizza was delivered in 30 minutes or less or it was free
Still had Saturday morning cartoons
Indiana Jones was the man
Back to the Future
Action Movies ruled
Great Heavy Metal
Auburn football ruled the decade.

Before the 1850s in Massachusetts or perhaps as late as 1920 in Mississippi when the first and last Child Labor Laws and Compulsory Education Laws in the country went into effect.

Once your arse hits thirteen you need to be thinking of a wife and a family. These extended childhoods have fricked up society.

All of this Teenage angst is because it is unnatural to be treated like children as teenagers and the wasting or resources on the education of those who should be working on a farm, apprenticing, mine work, factory work or even soldiering and service on a warship.

Probably some bias because I grew up in the 80s, but that's what I'd go with. The newness of things like Arcades, VCRs, and cable tv and the variety of great music in pretty much every genre for most of the decade.

It was also a great decade for seeing movies in theaters and probably the last decade that was totally void of the PC bullshite.

^^^Totally agree^^^ You said what I was gonna say, and you probably said it better.

In BR?

I would say the 1970s. You have AC by this point, and the city still retains some of the old demographics. It's still essentially an overgrown college town w/plants.

This is still true in the '80s but clearly showing signs of strain. By the end of the '90s the new demos have pretty much shattered this old BR, and it's just another Southern city w/all the problems that entails.

School desegregation order in mid/late 80s was really what sent the middle class to the suburbs. Prior to that South BR pretty much was the burbs.

I had a pretty good time in the 1960s.

I used "1960s" rather than "the 60s" as I know that some posters (Owlvis, I'm looking at you) would ask me about how life was in the 1860s.

No. I did not protest the Viet Nam war (although I now see it as a horrible waste of young Americans) nor did I do drugs or have long hair. In fact my hair now is longer than it was during my HS days from 1965-1969.

I am not as right wing as I was back then and see most things in shades of gray rather than black and white.

ETA: I did experiment with Dewar's White Label scotch whiskey.

Me either. I just want to be left alone as much as possible.

Funny because at the time people said the world was too dangerous and life was better in the 50’s and 60’s when people still knew their neighbors and looked out for each other.

Turned 12 in '81. Could drive at 15, and the girls were all about it. New tech, cool music and no major world war or social upheaval made those years pretty sweet.
