High dollar paver installations are done over a concrete base with a sand bed between the concrete and the pavers.
No they're not. They are laid in mortar directly on the slab. Why spend the money to pour a slab for pavers only to put sand between them and the slab?

I will admit Raymond was the same guy who did the work for me as well. He did lack in the communication department a little bit. However, he never dodged any of my calls.

I've seen them put on a sand base but a mortar bed makes more sense.
Possibly there might be a problem with differential thermal expansions of the pavers, the mortar and the subgrade concrete?
ETA: Maybe this is what I was thinking of:

When I had my driveway and patio poured in my house my contractor (also a friend) said his concrete guy charges him $1.50 a square foot and he charges $3.00 /foot to his customers. This was in BTR 5 years ago.
Of course a larger job like a driveway will cost less per square foot than a small job.

Perfect timing with this thread I was googling around this morning for the same thing. I'm hoping to get mine done in the next few weeks. I have creative patio coming out to give me an estimate on a patio cover this week.
Unit, what size are you pouring?

Either a 15x20 or a 20x20. Still trying to figure out how big we wanna go.

You'll never wish it was smaller. Not once have I looked at my patio and said "man, I wish I had some grass right there to walk on"

Similar situation here. I guess we will see what my estimate looks like tonight.

I'll be doing the same. I've heard good things about their work though. And its somewhat appealing because they can do everything unlike some that just do a patio cover. I believe they'll do the concrete work and gutters and the whole 9.

Yes they do everything. I'm kind of subbing mine out. I had Meanco do the concrete, I'll have somebody do the patio cover, and I have a separate brick guy doing work.

This is still an option for me. You doing an insulated patio cover over the entire area?
Posted on 2/25/16 at 2:00 pm to lsugrad35
As of right now thats what I have quoted.
4" insulated aluminum
Cypress cross beams & posts
Fan beams
Gutters & down pipe
