Columbus, Georgia has some decent rafting
And oft in the hills of Habersham,
And oft in the valleys of Hall,
The white quartz shone, and the smooth brook-stone
Did bar me of passage with friendly brawl,
And many a luminous jewel lone
-- Crystals clear or a-cloud with mist,
Ruby, garnet and amethyst --
Made lures with the lights of streaming stone
In the clefts of the hills of Habersham,
In the beds of the valleys of Hall.

The land is fine, just not enough gravity in Louisiana.

I did a lot of tubing in NW Arkansas, never saw white water. Gorgeous mountains, woods, water clearer than anything in Louisiana.

Like others said, the Ocoee is pretty legit. Done it twice and would do it again

Go introduce yourself. Clayton is big enough to have some eating and staying options.

Clayton is a great place to stay...and more importantly it's a quick drive to the put-in for Section IV of the Chattooga, probably one of the best whitewater runs in this country.

Also the river Deliverance was filmed on.

The Ocoee is great, it’s a bit short though. If you’re looking for something several hours long, then the Chattooga on the far northern GA/SC border has multiple trips and can be several hours long.

Cossatot River, maybe 50 miles or so above Texarkana. probably not stage 4 rapids or anything but you said close probably better hurry, don't know when it dries up for summer

I don't see why it wouldn't be. Starting around now and through the summer Clayton is a big weekend getaway spot for folks from Atlanta. I've been there several times and have seen all kinds of folks of every ethnicity and race out and about.

Same with other spots in North Georgia like Blue Ride/Ellijay, Helen, Dahlonega, etc.

Bogue Chitto outside Mccomb more of a float but can get dangerous depending on rain. Okattoma sp? N. Of Hattisburg Seminary pretty river and if water is fast there a few good spots. No nothing like Ocoee the closest real rapids when they open
