When I was stationed in Korea, a bunch of us had this bright idea of bringing a backpack full of Icehouse with us to clubs off post. The Class Six (which is a liquor store on an Army or Air Force base) was selling it for $8 a case, probably to get rid of it. shite beer I know but when you're 21 you don't care at that point.
Bunch of us maxed out our monthly ration of cases, load up a backpack or two, then go to one of the bars in Itaewon. We'd just order the one beer and drink the rest what we smuggled into the club.

Does that actually work?
Yes, locally at least.
I've never tried out of city.
Put the address you WANT it to go to in the Return address.
They return to sender for no postage.

Shut the engine off when coasting downhill to save gas, then clutch-start it back up at the bottom of the hill

Grab a used cup out the garbage to fill up a fountain drink that allowed 1 free refill.

Bought a Silverado new in 2010. You get what you pay for.

It was very embarrassing to be with him but I swear it worked more times than it didn't. He always got free and/or extra food or drinks.
If you have no shame you can get free shite and extras at restaurants. All you have to do is complain about the food, and many restaurants will comp the meal as a matter of policy and so they don't have to deal with arguing with you and making a scene in front of the other customers. But then you'd be that kind of person, and it just isn't worth it to me.

I worked under a french chef years ago, and that restaurant would rather throw the food away down a garbage disposal than give to the hungry or needy. To a point where it bothered me, was no sense in that.

Our whole family, grandmother down, used to use collect calls that were refused to signal we made it home from a trip.
Once we got back home, usually from my grandmother's house, we would call her collect asking to speak to ourselves. She would tell the operator that person isn't there. We would terminate the call free of charge. She knew we made it safe.
I have no idea how much we saved. I am guessing less than a dollar each time. That always struck me a cheap and using someone else's resources under false pretenses.

I once had to fly a first class commercial flight in 2008 after the financial crash left me where I didn’t want to waste thousands on jet fuel

A buddy of mine would go to an all you can eat sushi restaurant when he was in college, wearing a backpack lined with a gallon ziploc bag. He would order a ton of nigiri, dump the rice into the bag, and just load up on fish.
He did get busted doing that.

Playing playground ball in the 80s, my mom would give me a quarter to call home when I was done with practice. I would let it ring once and hang up. She new it was time. We also used the one ring trick with my out of town grandparents to let them know we were on the way there, or that we made it back home safely.

When I'm going to McDonald's or Chick Fil A when I leave the house in the morning, I'll bring slices of cheese to put on my sausage biscuit.
What makes this so cheap is it's not very often and it saves me about $1 a month. But I can't help but do it.

I worked restaurants from age 14 to age 23. Every restaurant had a different rule on employees eating, but I'm pretty sure I abused each one.
Italian restaurant had kids meals for free. Free bread and salad dressings.
BBQ joint would give a free lunch. My lunch included a pint of potato salad, pint of Brunswick stew, and a meat (footlong hot dog or loaded BBQ sandwich or burger). 2000 calorie lunch every day.
I worked a steakhouse. Not only did we get messed up orders. But I would raid the prime rib bucket (they would save all of the prime rib trimmings each day for weight. It would prevent stealing and also grade the grill cook on their serving sizes). I would eat my fill every day (after the bucket was weighed so as not to get the grill cook fired) of prime rib scraps and fat. I also got to take home end of night baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, and soups. I had no grocery bill. Just beer/liquor each week.
