We've considered a move to the Chattanooga area for a while now. Want to see what western Georgia or North Carolina offer first. Love that area.

Nashville has sort of grown out of its subtle best city rating. The place is almost too big already and getting bigger. Sort of like Austin did years ago. Id say Chattanooga and Huntsville are those next cities that will be trendy to the average person.

Hometown of Brother Jimmy Swaggart and Jerry Lee Lewis. Can't beat that culture with a a stick.

Memphis is the most southern city ever. But it’s not the best.

Nashville.

Not considering schools, but Nashville has some things that encourage long term migration to there.

Great hospitals.
An active international airport.
Somewhat low key, but healthy migrant communities.
Opportunities for advanced education.
Cheap places (often free) you can take a family for family time.
State government center (gives a stability to a job market at the expense of employing arse holes.)
Not in the always humid part of the south or the frozen solid for a few weeks part of the northern South.
Good fishing readily available for all.

People who are intrinsically good.

Small towns have shite schools and high crime. The days of Mayberry are over.

Not universally true. There are some that are real gems with great schools. You have to do your research. But yeah if you just up and pick a random small town like Hearne, TX, you might be in for a hardcore ghetto shock. However if you go 15 minutes east to Franklin you are in one of the best ISDs in the state. It really depends on the town but there’s still such a thing as pretty much Mayberry and also such a thing as a meth’d out hellhole.
