Atlanta can not be considered, 90% of the people in Atlanta are not from Atlanta.

I’m not an Ole Miss fan, but Oxford is about as close to “Mayberry” as you might get. Solid public schools, especially for MS. Nice town. Good food, will always have money, music, and intellectual folks due to the university.
Not trying to argue best college town or any of that, but if you are looking for a town under 25k, not sure there’s a better one in the South.

Nashville is my favorite. Honestly, it’s probably my favorite city in the US. Chattanooga is nice too.

Sorry but no. I appreciate your point of view but Nashville is better than NOLA in nearly every metric
Yeah! Especially cuisine and culture. You're talking about a city that has been "hip' for about 10 years to a city that's been universally synonymous with "cool" for 200+ years.
Why are you letting your fear of a certain demographic make you sound foolish on a message board?

This is true...
Nashville was undeniably Shitville 15+ years ago...
That said, the growth has been tremendous.

Athens. It's also only an hour or so from the second best city in the SE.

Atlanta is the sole "major city" in the South...sorry Charlotte and Nashville.

is garbage.
They're doing a great job of reinventing the city. It's not the best city in the South but it's definitely not garbage.

So when I say "nearly every metric", you do realize that doesn't mean "every metric", right?
Also, the go-to in any NOLA argument is "food and culture" which of course there is a ton of both there. While those are great, there are other more important things to consider like....oh I don't know...education, crime, healthcare, etc.
Finally, I never said a single word about any demographic, and I don't think pointing out that Nashville does tend to beat NOLA out in most standard of living metrics that people look at makes me sound foolish.
ETA: And I'm not even coming at this with a "New Orleans sucks" attitude. But strictly comparing numbers, Nashville is the better city.

Airport is on the west side, where all the clutches is. Charlotte has distinct non-cultcha zones. Stay away from the west and eat sides and you're good.
Yep from uptown south all the way to Ballantyne is basically culcha free and that’s a huge area. No reason to ever be in any other area unless it’s passing through to get the Lake Norman area suburbs (which are very nice)
When I came here to interview I was convinced the city was a dump based on my cab ride from the Airport to uptown. Quickly learned that was an area I’d really never need to be in.

New Country alone excludes Nashville...
God Awful is an understatement

New Orleans sucks
I wouldn’t say sucks, but it’s definitely overrated. It’s a great place to visit a few times a year but if we’re talking about living, it’s a terrible place. In a terrible state.

The way you quoted me literally insinuates the opposite of what I said.

Wait. Are some people on here trying to argue NOLA > Nashville?
I grew up in NOLA. I’ve been to/stayed in Nashville multiple times a year for 12 years. This might be the dumbest argument I’ve ever heard in my entire life.

But...but...culture and food!
You can have a nice meal and watch people parade down the street when someone dies! So it has to be the best city in the south!
