Industrial spray painters smear it on their face. It prevents the overspray from sticking to their faces. There is plenty overspray on windy days, and in tight quarters.

I had a teacher my sophomore year in high school that kept a jar of Vicks on his desk and he'd ROUTINELY scoop a finger full out of it and swallow it. fricking gross.

I use it to hold the gasket in place when I'm changing the fuel filter on a diesel engine.
Works great for that.
