The OT with twain, sparkafatty, rocket, Lester earl, nostrodamus, etc circa 2004 was quite simply the best time in life. I would stay in on weekends just to talk noise with those dudes.

Thanks for the link.

Afreaux posted in that 2008 thread. Clicked his name, and saw on his profile he last posted on 7/19/11 at 10:32 am.

This is the correct answer. Probably first used in the late 1990s.

Based on a derivation of the following:

An old saying when someone said something that everyone knew was "Japan bombs Peal Harbor"

Then courtesy of the Belucci Animal House speech it evolved into "Germans bombed Pearl Harbor"

Now it's just "germans"

The Germans thing started on the old Tiger Lair board. LSU fans spread it from there to many other boards.

This is correct...been a member of the Lair since the fall of ‘97 and that term was used there well before 2000 rolled around.

Yea, Germans started on an LSU site....a mere ten years after it started on offtopic.com and was considered funny for about four days and people with ordinary senses of humor stopped using it.

There are very few other places where individuals continue to be entertained by things used repetitively...typically only seen in young children.
