To sum up: being a parent is ..tiring, frustrating, worrisome, expensive and...it goes by way to fast.

Yep, us too

Older generations weren't as strict about schedules because they hadn't realized the value.

But if its nap time, we're leaving wherever we are and getting our son down to sleep. Or at least putting him in car seat and rocking him until he's out (which thank god works well). Same with feeding and bed time.

He's down at a 7 PM for the night and that is non-negotiable

It is amazing, and fills a hole you never knew you had. Until the custody battle ensues and then you are a male and fricked in the court systems. Then you live the rest of your life a shell of yourself.

We broke our schedule a few weekends ago for a family member's wedding when we couldn't find a babysitter.

He did awesome at the wedding, was a trooper for the reception, and then crashed in the car seat on the way home, but the next day he was a complete mess because his schedule was all thrown off from the night before.

The credit pales in comparison to the expenses associated.

This about sums it up perfectly.

My son will be 16 this summer. I miss the toddler years. Nothing you do or say is right. The amount of food he consumes is out of this world. I was warned to beware of a teenage boys appetite. We have our battles. But there are also those moments that happen that make you smile, and you know you've done something right. The other night, I was supposed to pick my son up from the basketball game at 8:30. At 7:50 he texted me to come get him because his phone was about to die. I get there and he said he wanted me to come get him, because he knew if I got there at 8:30 and he didnt answer me, he would have hell to pay. That made me proud. Hes growing up.

Once your kid learns to open the fridge and wipe their arse on their own, it’s smooth sailing from there.

That’s all I got.

Yep.

The wrath is delayed. Our pediatrician described it as extreme jet lag.

Does your kid at least sleep? Our 1.5 year old sleeps like a boss. Never wakes up in the middle of the night and sleeps for 13-14 hours on weekends.

Our next one can only be worse by comparison.

Does any parent here actually regret having kids?

Yeah, relative to the norm he's a good sleeper. My two sisters both have kids the exact same age as ours (wild time to be grandparents) and he's a better sleeper than both.

One of my big sister's kid is colicky and it sounds absolutely horrible. She's 5 months old and rarely goes more than a couple hours sleeping at a time.

Unfortunately, a very large amount of parents regret it.

Look at the single parent rates in this country or the amount of absentee fathers. Its despicable.

Yes for sure.

When you put them to bed each night imagine a sign about they bed that says "Limited Time Only". 18 years of them living at home goes by like a blink of any eye.

My youngest just had a birthday and looking back at pictures form just a year ago was enough to make me think "where did the time go". They grow up so fast.
