that whole area is amazing.

It is. It's become our semi-permanent spot, 3 trips in 12 years backs that up.

This time, we'll be able to take our daughter. Can't wait.

Upstate NY in general is beautiful

Seconded.

NY, outside of obviously NYC, Rochester, Syracuse and Buffalo, is a pretty rural state.

Absolutely. Spent a good bit of time in both and besides the Texas barbecue being better, it's not close.

East Tennessee is pretty awesome. Ironically, I lived in Texas Hill Country (Canyon Lake, TX) before I moved to Knoxville, TN in 2022. Smokey Mountains is equal to or greater than Texas Hill Country in my opinion. Plus, less hippie bullshite like Austin has with all the Cali libtards. Blue Ridge Mountain range is pretty amazing as well.

You can get to enough elevation such that you can find places that are relatively cool (or at least comfortable) all summer. Plus the lush forests and constant flowing streams (and waterfalls) will always be better than that dry assed hill country scrub.

I agree having lived in TN for more than 12 years, amazing area to live in foot hills of the Smokeis and great white water rafting, and hiking part of the AT. believe it or not MO has a lot of hunting and fishing, but the mountains of the SW will awe you and make you feel small.

Unfortunately social media has made so many regional vacation spots blow up and went from 8 to 11 on the tourism overload thing.

We're not going in the winter, dumbass.

There's a reason we're going in July.

You are right about Wyoming winters, though

ETA: You can downvote that all you want, doesn’t change the fact a-hole.

North Ga is a paradise. Summers top out in the high 80s and winters are mild. Fall and spring seems like it lasts forever. Nice small towns and nice people. Unreal if you’re a hunter or fisherman. Nice and quiet.

Arizona high desert area. Close to warmth, close to cold. Choose your adventure.
