So, it looks like I have a possible abscess in one of my back teeth and a root canal may be in order. I’ve never had one done before, but from what I’ve heard, it’s a rather unpleasant experience.

So how many of you baws have had a root canal? Is it as bad as its reputation or is it not that bad?

Had one when I was a kid, after flipping over the handlebars of my bmx and smashing my face into the concrete.

It isn't fun. At all.

Worst part is having your mouth held all the way open by that clamp thing for a couple hours.

I've had a couple, and not any worse than any other filling.

A helluva lot better than not having it if you need it!

There was nothing to mine. Replacing an old metal filling turned into a root canal when the the tooth started leaking bloody pus. No trouble or pain at all.

My fairly frequent headaches stopped though. It does bother some people though.

My dentist has an illustration of the procedure on his wall. It is horrifying.

I had it done for an abscessed tooth that died after being hit with a baseball bat. The worst part was the constant draining in my mouth. shite was nasty.

Pull it. Don’t leave dead things in your body.

I’ve had pretty extensive trauma to my mouth when I was a kid that caused a need for multiple root canals later on, I’ve lost count but didn’t think it was that big of a deal

Its the pain that leads up to a root canal that gives it its repuation.

A day after the canal you will feel much better.

Don’t research the procedure . It’s creepy

Tell them to load you up on numbing agent and sit back and relax

Take some ibuprofen beforehand and keep some for after but you’ll be good to go

Protip/ tell them to put some Vaseline on your lips as they’re doing stuff as they dry out and you can’t lick them so they’ll crack . Learned that the hard way

Worst part is holding mouth open. It’s not that bad. They numb you from chin to top of head. The next day it may be a little sore, but that’s it.

It’s not bad at all. I only took Tylenol after.

It’s like immediately turning the tooth pain light switch off.
