Victoria seems like a large town with not much hustle and bustle.

Victoria is a very big town or incredibly small city without much charm. It’s a cleaner Odessa without the amenities.

Del Rio

Seems to have developed away from border more than some others. Is that due to geography of the area?

Del Rio was a more recent hot spot for illegal crossings. Not sure how that affected it, or how actually making an effort to enforce our border is changing it now.

Below has some pictures of some the long standing southern border wall holes that were plugged by Trump along with ongoing work including adding razor wire at the top of the wall.

If you're not tied to the Hispanic culture, have you checked out any of the Czech Belt?

Columbus, La Grange, Schulenberg, Flatonia area.

I went to the festival for the Feast of the Assumption in Praha (near the big city of Flatonia), and it might as well have been a small Cajun festival. Bands with accordions and old people and kids dancing and drinking beer.

I prefer the south Texas Tex Mex tejano culture over the west Texas / New Mexico El Paso / Juarez culture.

This is why I am considering Laredo and the valley over El Paso. Although if El Paso was in south Texas it would probably be the winner for me.

I think del Rio being more American feeling is due to the military bases.

These towns are basically all on my list as well aside from seguin. Seguin is too close to San Antonio.

I have looked at Pleasanton, floresville, Tilden. Tilden might be the winner if I can get a WFH job.

I have not looked into this area, but I will. I am not familiar with Czechs.

Laredo honestly isn’t that bad. It’s just hot as frick during the summer. You don’t get the coastal breeze you have in a place like Corpus. For me, there’s not a ton of things to do. I like my live sports, and aside from a Mexican League team that plays some games on the US side, all you have is a small college.

They are lower than San Antonio, which is lower than almost any comparable sized city in the country.

Unless you live in a town of under 50,000 people you aren’t gonna find a lower crime rate than the valley or Laredo…

Location / proximity wise Laredo and corpus would be the best choices, or anywhere else south of San Antonio, and then del Rio, Victoria, and uvalde.

I am not opposed to living in another state though if I found what I was looking for. I will look into some of the Arizona and Louisiana towns mentioned.
