Party City is pulling Confederate-themed Halloween costumes after a mother and her two Black children discovered them in a Virginia store.
On Sunday, Arlington mom Caroline Brasler was shopping at the Bailey's Crossroads location with her two Black daughters, ages 10 and 12, when they found two costumes branded with Confederate symbols — one depicted a “Confederate Officer” and the other General Robert E. Lee.

A Party City spokesperson tells Yahoo Life, “... We do not tolerate racism or hatred of any kind, and we stand together in solidarity with our diverse colleagues, customers and communities” and that none of its costumes are meant to offend.
“The costume in question was sold at a franchise location, and is not produced or sold in any Party City corporate owned stores,” read the statement. “We have reached out to our franchisees and other partners to remove it from all retail locations ASAP. We know that as a company, we can and must do better, and we’re taking immediate action...”

I’ve lived in Alabama my entire life and can’t think of anytime that I’ve seen someone dress up as a Confederate solider for Halloween. I’m surprised this costume ever even existed in the first place.

I’ll be glad when Democrats get past the Civil War.

Probably need to remove the ghost costumes too, just to be safe.

Must have some pretty boring costumes if they aren’t supposed to offend anyone.

Will the Lebron James unis be banned? He's pretty racist to me. Plus, he's still alive.

Trick or Treating in that will result in nothing but a pumpkin full of Charleston Chews

I’m surprised they haven’t stopped sell the Klan costumes that are so popular every Halloween.

Double
Offensive Halloween costumes are part of the fun of Halloween. I hate how of the world has become, everybody is offended over something. Get over it, learn to laugh, quit demanding to speak to the frickin manager, and let people have some fun.

Where's the costume? I only see a Mississippi school uniform in the picture.

My college fraternity used to wear confederate uniforms to the formal but it was frowned upon years before I joined and I’m pretty old. I can’t imagine a company producing that costume in 2020 and thinking it would be a good idea.
