Get this book
The world would probably be pretty shitty as it relates to human rights and scientific/technological advancement.

So you are asking if a different culture colonized the west, would the world be different?
Sure, why not. What do I win?

After working directly with the Chinese over the past 7 years I can say it’s next to impossible for them to be candid.

That's actually a fun thing to think about. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if the natives had been resistant to certain diseases. All the urban populations were nearly wiped out shortly after the Europeans arrived.
The Europeans still would have won out because technology but those civilizations may have still thrived after they were subjugated.

There’s a book that’s kinda about this. It’s called The Years Of Rice And Salt. Excellent read.

They had to constantly worry about warrior tribes from the steppes. Mongols being the most obvious, but others as well.
Europe was a little too far west for those tribes and the Muslim Caliphates had to deal with them so never were able too incur past Central Europe with their conquests. Gave Western Europe the opportunity to thrive and compete with each other instead of having to fall behind a centralized monarchy or empire.
Badabing, badaboom: The Renaissance.

N. Ferguson will be known as one if the few worthwhile historians of our time. A few of his books are money grabs but most are great.
