City council is perpetually a joke and mayor after mayor has been corrupt, inept at best in my life. But the blame for the structural failures need to be placed at the Army core of Engineers desk.

Every executive level in America completely dropped the ball. Nagin, Blanco, Bush

The actual northeast section of the storm looked like a nuke went off 60 miles inland. As in flattened....Miss took way more damage than New Orleans and it's shitty flood protection....but the culture and drama won the attention of the media.

This, this and this.

The damage Mississippi took was natural - directly related to the storm - and it was devastating.

What happened in New Orleans was caused by humans. Crooked men and women who for decades stole and misused untold amounts of money intended to be spent to protect the city.

Westbank would’ve gotten storm surge that overtopped and breached levees instead of the East. Grand Isle probably would’ve been wiped off the map

Say Katrina had made landfall in the Golden Meadow

There would be no Fourchon, no Venice, no Grand Isle, no Lafitte, no Westbank, no Mandeville, no Covington

New Orleans would be the least of the state’s worries.

The oil field and Mississippi River would be shut down and it would have affected the entire United States.

landfall in MS and literally wiped it off the map.

Someone doesn’t know what literally means. Pretty sure Mississippi is still on maps.

he said the track hit Golden meadow. the damage would have been the same or worse in NOLA. the surge was still there.
