I'm sure you do. When was the last time you saw it? I bet it's hard to see it without looking at the mirror since your gut is too big and you have a chode.

Exactly. Not saying the pumps would have fixed the issue. But it has to directionally hell in a situation like this.

I don't start a lot of threads. Y'all please don't hijack it fighting whether it's a dumb question or not.

I've been discussing this with people I know in NOLA and it's absolutely not a stupid topic to them.

Honestly, it probably would've provided an out for the SaWB. Mitch and his crew would have ran with their initial statement. "No system in the world can handle this much rain."

They would have requested and subsequently abused the federal funding given.

They would not have admitted faulty equipment unless citizens and the media called them out, just as what recently happened.

Nola would've been fricked but Mitch would still be high and dry because he just warned us all to "stay woke."

Wow. Very good point. It wouldn't have exposed the deficiencies at all. Pump stations would be underwater anyway in this scenario.

Don't know many cities that can take on the water HOU metro is experiencing without widespread flooding

Utter devastation to answer your OP.

But storm surge overwhelming levees vs. direct relentless rainfall over the "bowl" that is NOLA? Need a few engineers to discuss that one and which is worse.

One thing I'd say is flooded is flooded. What would a water mark 4-5" higher have done to NOLA, if compared to as high as it got in Katrina?

Yup. Wholeheartedly agree with this. Needed a "minor" flooding to expose the true issues. A major rainfall while devastating would've provided a scapegoat for the deficiencies.

Landreiu's administration needs a serious investigation. He and his cronies need to be put under a microscope.

True enough but given his neglect of the pumps he ought to be picking up highway litter in an orange outfit

The minor flood definitely exposed the city's lack of preparedness and concern in general. They definitely couldn't be trusted to coordinate a mass evacuation.

water would be levee to levee, too levee to levee....

and the number of rats on those levees would be like a biblical plague

I didn't say the guy who deserves the blame. I said the guy who gets the blame.

Everything would have been fine because the statues are no longer there.

Pumps are down and never working right. But but they brought down the statues. That's all that matters. Lol
