What has been your experience stopping smoking/nicotine use on Chantix?

I started smoking in college. Been addicted to nicotine ever since. I vape constantly now. What has your experience been with Chantix?

Don't be the guy who vapes nicotine. shite is gay...
Either smoke cigs like a man or pop a Zyn...
And patches are the way to quit bc you don't have to reach for anything to get that "fix"...
You're welcome.

Tried chantix and I kept smoking. Went to the patches and within a month and half I had quit smoking.
I will not lie, it’s tough but it’s more mental than anything, especially if you smoked while drinking alcohol.

Obviously it’s in your DNA. Your mom was smoking. Like Paulina Porizkova.
Smoking pole.
Smoking pole.

I have seen two people absolutely lose their shite on chantix. Wouldn’t recommend it. Made them manic af.

Patches and different meds are fine, but will power is the ultimate med to quitting. I’m trying to convince myself to quit but it’s fricking hard. I know that one day soon I’ll wake up and just not light one. Still being in the grieving process makes it even harder for me.

Banned in my neighborhood. Kids were abusing it.

Back when that stuff first came out a guy told me he had the most insane nightmares while taking it.

Used Chantix 15 years ago, was awful on my stomach and crazy crazy nightmares all night every night.
Just read Alan Carr's Easy Way book and you'll be quit - easily painlessly no problem in a day or two.

I had a couple friends that had the same experience. They said they wouldn’t take Chantix again if someone paid them

Felt like crap, nauseous so I didn’t want to smoke
Doesn’t stop cravings 100%, started back about 4 months later
Fixing to start it again, found out we are going to be grandparents so that’s my motivation to quit
It made my Dad feel like he had a bad case of the flu for a couple of weeks but he hasn’t smoked since (10+ years)

I used the patches and have been successful. I also used an app that told me how much my health improved each month and money I was saving, etc. The app really put things into perspective

I’ve heard several people say reading this books works, I may give it a try as well

I quit by using the patch 15 years ago. Biggest thing about quitting cigarettes is to totally get them out of your life. Having friends, family or coworkers that still smoke around you will make it extremely difficult.

Nicotine is healthy just chew the gum mate

Had a college friend get depressed/suicidal on it. From watching that go down, I’d stay away. Most of the people I know that have quit successfully have done it cold turkey.

Didn’t work for me except to give me crazy dreams.
I smoked from 2011 - October 22, 2024. I went to the doc and we had already tried the Wellbutrin and Chantix. I asked him about trying Zyns. He said to definitely try them. I haven’t had one since that day. I know Zyns still have the nicotine, but it doesn’t have all the shite that kills you that’s in cigarettes.

Yes but...you've got this monkey on your back constantly. Can never relax, always trying to ease the craving.
Better to kick the monkey to the curb.

The only person i know who took it went from a relatively stable person to having thoughts of killing her child and going on coke binges.
ETA and i have no idea if she ever quit smoking.

Chantix? Went 6 weeks either either not sleeping or vivid dreaming so intense that I wasn’t getting rest. I ended up hallucinating and checking into a hospital for four days to get back to normal. Ended up quitting with nicotine pouches with no drama.
