What happens if asymptomatic people stop voluntarily testing for COVID-19?

Would it have any effect on the local/state mandates for required masking?

Are the numbers of total cases/deaths/hospitalizations being reported by the so-called health experts and government officials believable?

STOP VOLUNTARILY TESTING!!!

They get fired?

Most of these are being required by their employers

If people stopped getting tested, who weren't really sick then the % of positive cases would go way up. Our wonderful governor would just use that to shut shite down.

Everyone who takes a test gets a positive result

Even if they drive off without taking a test

That would fall under 'required' testing, no?

I guess

Just not sure that a large enough % of asymptotic people are getting tested without being asked by their employers

I could be wrong though

Why aren’t more people asking why there are so many asymptotic people? We’re supposed accept when they test a prison, etc and almost everyone has it and no one has symptoms? The tests are bogus. They’re pulling a massive amount of false positives by either being shitty tests or hitting on other types of coronavirus.

Guy I work with tested positive, and never had a symptom. Retested 2 more times positive, and on his 4th test finally a negative. Is he counted as a single case, or as 3??? Easy to manipulate the numbers of this is what's going on.

I am in no way a Trump supporter.

But it's pretty sad when people don't understand what he means when he says "More people are testing positive because more people are being tested."

If people who feel slightly under the weather, or who feel like they have the flue get tested, yeah, of course there will be more positives. But what those same people won't hear is that the SAME frickING THING could be happening with any cold/flu any other year. Don't mistake this as me saying COVID 19 is just a cold. I am saying that asymptomatic people could also be spreading the flu without knowing it, which underestimates the flu numbers because we aren't making sure that anyone who has the sniffles gets tested.

The issue is that you can't even get that far with people anymore.

How does that work?

Usually you consent to drug testing at time of hiring. But can they force you to take a fricking in the nose with a swab without consent?

Hell, local news affiliates in north AL have been begging everyone to go get tested, whether sick or not.

Yes!!! My 82 year old grandfather tested positive. He had a mild fever for a couple days but that was all the symptoms he shown. His dr tested him weekly until he tested negative which was 5 weeks. Yes, he tested positive for 5 freakin weeks and each one was counted as a new case.

If you aren’t feeling deathly ill then don’t test at all. Even if you are positive what are you going to do?
Stop giving them ammo.

Only if you want to work there if that's their rule. You have a choice.

At my company, everyone is temp checked before entering and with a fever has to be tested before returning. Testing of those with no fever or symptoms is not required but a mask must be worn by all, 100% of the time.

Most places I'm aware of that require everyone to be tested are in a health or teaching related job.

The new cases might per day might start falling, but it would likely be offset with a rise in % positive.

I'd love to know this too. The lack of transparency with these tests and results is stunning.

The purpose of testing is to determine if you need to quarantine and to allow contact tracing of those that were around you so the can quarantine as well.

The system works well in most places. Unfortunately there are many in the U.S. that refuse to social distance, refuse wear a mask when in close contact with others, refuse the test when feeling ill and refuse to help with contact tracing.

These people than complain when cases start rapidly rising and social business starts closing again.

Do we even know what percentage of positive tests are truly asymptomatic? I’m certain there are some, but I don’t know many people who are willing to go get their frontal lobe swabbed for shits and giggles.

My suspicion, with absolutely no data to back it up, is that the vast majority of “voluntary” tests - meaning those without a physician referral - are either:
A) People with cold- or flu-like symptoms who went straight to a testing site without talking to their primary care doctor, or
B) People who have been in contact with someone who had COVID, or COVID symptoms

Work-mandated tests could fall into either of those categories. Group B would be the only one that counts as asymptomatic. And even if they are asymptomatic and test positive, it doesn’t necessarily mean they never develop symptoms. So while I get that more testing means more positives, has anyone seen any real data on how many of these positives are asymptomatic?

Louisiana Department of Health has been saying for a few weeks that multiple positives from one person counts as 1 case.

I think the initial (raw) numbers include duplicates and then they put out a revised number after purging dups.
