What happened to the Zodiac?

The Zodiac is one of the most notorious serial killers in American history, murdering several people in Northern California in the late ‘60s / early ‘70s.
I have wondered that if he is still alive if he intends to come forward at the end of his life (kind of like Deep Throat did some years back) or maybe have a confession of some sort released after his death.
The way he enjoyed toying with the SFPD would lead one to believe he might enjoy a “It was me, John Doe, all along” moment on his way out the door. Or maybe he has reasons to keep his real identity a secret, even in death.
In any case, it would be interesting to know what became of him.

Was the guy in NYC a copy cat? He did similar things. Killed by astrological signs etc and somehow knew what their birthdays were. He was caught though.

I think they have some trace DNA if I’m not mistaken, so he will eventually be identified because of all of the dNa databases now.

The sketch does look like Rick Perry but Perry would have been 18 when the first confirmed zodiac killing occurred and 13 when the first suspected one occurred.
Cruz wasn't even born yet, and besides he looks more like this guy.
