SJW killed their boner. PC has ruined authentic comedy as it was from the 50’s to the 90’s.

And let’s be frank. I found this shite funny in college, but it’s not all that funny and quite frankly lazy: YouTube

Like almost every site that created original content, YouTube became the main source of getting viewers.

CollegeHumor, RoosterTeeth, FunnyOrDie, etc all had great content but once people stopped visiting the actual sites and became reliant on YouTube to watch it they were on a death march.

People don’t go to individual sites, let alone subscribe to them, to watch videos. If it’s not on YouTube we aren’t going to watch it.

The short version is they they got snookered by YouTube. Abandoned self monetization chasing YouTube hits.

When YouTube pulled the rug out from them their entire business model collapsed.

The basically just post shite on YouTube now, and they have an app called dropout. The quality went down a while ago after most of the good people went on to bigger and better things, SNL, John Oliver, etc.

You’re referring to 2 people. Sarah & Dan went to bigger and better things. Jake & Amir, their strongest recurring bit, tried to do their own thing and failed.

Imo it was the advent of apps that doomed them and every other similar content creator. We no longer pull up Chrome or Safari on our phones and look at our bookmarks. Unless we have an app icon on our phone, they might as well be dead to us.

They have, on multiple occasions, changed how videos are able to earn $.

Once upon a time, it was strictly based on views. Now it is completely dependent on a lot of arbitrary criteria that changes too often for small content producers to keep up with and/or are short changed.

In fairness to YouTube, this was largely done to keep "low hanging fruit" videos from being the primary monetizers. I'm talking about guys like Jay station or some women posting what is effectively softcore porn (although most of those types moved on to Twitch)

Which is hilarious since they started out getting college girls to show their tits.
