yeah, that was kind of my point. there is not a topic known to man that the OT won't argue about.
Sometimes a little mental grind is fun, because its no longer allowed in the real world outside of the scientific realm, but yeah....

It's not really the same. If people ask where do you live it saves time to simply say New Orleans because a lot more people around the country know where New Orleans is than slidell.

My hometown has a place that serves slug burgers that has been open for 100 years or so now. They didn't invent it. Granny (everyone in town called her granny) worked til she was like 90 then the fry basket got too hard for her to flip during a busy lunch.

The Outdoor Board isn't bad.
I imagine the Soccer Board looks like a brawl between contestants on "Glee"

But I've lived here 25 years.
Where do you tell oldtimers there, who've been there all their lives, you're "from"?

He tells them he was born and raised in Louisiana and ran away because he was a junkie and escaped to Alaska to "Find Himself"

I usually say the south, which then somehow compels them to try to figure where. If so, I'll just say Louisiana.
Most Americans have a hard enough time with individual States, I doubt starting with a town tells them much.
