What ever happened to delaying the start of the school day?

I kind of get it with liability of bus drivers and not wanting to run them during a thunderstorm, but why don’t they just delay the start of the school day instead of cancelling it completely?

Cause bus drivers have a primary job they need to get to, for one thing.

Because everything has to get shifted and that’s a ripple effect that affects vendors too who now have to change schedules and it’s just a mess.
At least in theory

This website is obsessed with school closures and travel ball. I will never understand the fascination with these topics.

Buses aren’t the only way to get to school. I am sure plenty of people would be in favor of driving their children to school at 10:00 and taking a partial day off rather than having to make arrangements or take a full day off.
I would also think this would be part of the calculus for a bus driver accepting the position. 200 bus drivers versus thousands of individuals being put in a “bind” seems like an easy decision as well.

If you don’t make teachers wake up and go straight to school they always seem to wind up drunk.

When I was in school I always delayed the start of the school day.

Because schools now build in days for weather events just like this. They used to not. They have days to burn so... enjoy your 3 day weekend with your kid(s).

I only remember school getting cancelled twice when I was a kid. Hurricane Andrew and then some random snow/ice storm.
