What ever ended up happening with the LSU dorm eviction debacle?

Where kids were forced to leave the dorms for health and safety reasons and then were charged/fined for leaving early like a month later?

Someone posted about it here and I never heard another thing about it.

There was an article the other day in the Advocate. Noticeably missing was any talk of the proposed penalty. A REAL journalist working for a REAL newspaper definitely would have inquired about the proposed penalty. There was just one cryptic sentence/paragraph that stated, "What schools owe students is a sensitive topic nationally."

So the penalty/fine was just some TD bullsh?

Does anyone remember what I’m talking about?

LSU needed 20 million so they could change the name of the “lazy river”. Apparently it was offensive to people of color

No, not at all.

Parents and students were told that they would be charged the "normal" penalty for leaving in the middle of the semester.

The article just doesn't address it. So, at this point, no one knows if LSU still plans on charging the penalty.

That doesn't exist anymore.

Modern journalists are progressive activists...carrying water for academia is to be expected.

Why would there be a penalty . Don't they just pay monthly rent?If they were evicted then LSU did not live up the agreement and seems they could stop paying rent.

If rent is paid in advance by semester then LSU owes a refund unless the rental agreement provides some protection to LSU.

We were refunded about a third of what we should have received for a full refund - that's housing and meals. That's based on what we paid and the time remaining after he was asked to leave.

Oh they charged it. Months ago. I emailed them about it. They gave me BS about still incurring fixed costs so they made the decision that charging the penalty was fair.

Without even getting into the math for the meal plan, we paid $3K for housing for the semester. He was asked to leave around mid-March, he left, we received a little under $700 back for housing.
