That is the Trayvon case. Random person tries to grab him, he defended and got the upper hand, the instigator kills him.
Seems strange that people put that and Michael Brown in the same stratosphere.

It is why it seems strange to trivialize this one, or compare it to Michael Brown. This could literally happen to anyone, and I hope when the flight option is gone, you would want to fight for yourself.

It is anybody's right to watch. But he was in an unmarked car, with no symbols, and admitted he didn't address himself as watch, cop, or that he was performing citizens arrest. He absolutely overreacted, and his overreaction left a dead guy.
Comparing Michael Brown, who ran towards a cop like a stupid frick, to Trayvon, who was profiled, followed, and subsequently shot to death (if we were to believe everything GZ said only), seems a little strange.

That was part of it, but not the whole thing.
I think that to the extent America has "changed" in the last decade, it was a culmination of things.
- A black president being elected.
- Gay marriage being ruled a right.
- The whole transgender/bathroom thing.
I think these things and other things like them eventually set off a reaction from a segment of the population that felt things were changing too fast and in ways they were not comfortable with. Maybe the pendulum had reached it's apex to the left and it was inevitable that a reaction would pull it back the other way.
So, in my opinion, those things changed the country in two ways - first in taking the country in that direction and 2nd in inciting the move back the other way.
