He was a community organizer with a Harvard law degree who was a state senator then US senator before becoming president. I think he had a job in college as well.
Trump has never worked for anyone a day in his life. He was born a millionaire. After he was able to dodge the vietnam war and graduate college, his dad gave him money to get started. He says it was $1M, but his dad actually gave him millions before he passed away (he put up money for him when the Taj Mahal was struggling) and then when his dad passed, he inherited multi-millions of dollars.
He really wasn't a "big player" in the financial world throughout the 90s.. The Apprentice is what really revived him.

If you would have said 2000-2018, I would have said the 2000 election.
I think a lot of the very deep divisions in this country really ramped up after 2000.
I would probably point to 9/11 and our reactions thereafter.
Maybe it's my bias, but that is one thing I pretty vividly remember observing in the run up to the Iraq invasion - how heated the rhetoric became and how polar shite got. The brutality of the war from 2004 to about 2008 was then compounded by the crash, and that's where we are today. The rise of social media and the smartphone all started in that time frame as well and fed into it.

And you think this means anything
For a constitutional scholar, he may have been the most unconstitutional president since FDR

Election of Obama. It fast-tracked the deterioration of our country.
I think this started in around 2004. The war in Iraq was wrong, and caused a great rift

I'd say mass shootings.
During this time you had Sandy Hook, Aurora Theater shooting, there was a shooting in a Lafayette Theater (only 2 people were killed several injured. Including a friend of mine's husband's sister. She was in Lafayette for some teacher thing, she decided she was going to wait until the morning to go home while the others left that afternoon. She decided to go to the movies, she was by herself and got shot in the leg. She had to go through a lot of therapy. After it happened, it didn't really bother her for the first few months, then all of a sudden she couldn't sleep at night, she would have panic attacks, etc.. but I think the guy who did the shooting had gone to a theater in Baton Rouge days before going to the one in Lafayette.. And for whatever reason decided to randomly start shooting in Lafayette).
And well, yall are familiar with the rest of them.. But the amount of mass shootings in the last 10 years increased rapidly
This might be your worst fricking post ever and that's saying something.

rise of social media
Has been terrible, even before phones
The internet gives us more factual info at our fingertips than ever. It also gives us more bullshite than ever. The overwhelming majority of the population has found their little bubbles of the internet to reinforce their ideas, not to challenge them
People know more than ever, unfortunately most of its fabricated

Yes because he made a name for himself throughout the 80s, but he really didn't have the success he had in the 80s, throughout the 90s.
I am not saying he was out on the street poor or anything, but he success gradually declined throughout the 90s.

I found something that said, when him and Michelle got out of law school, they had combined debt of $120k. So I am guessing student loans?

Social Media, which led to this incredible wave of everybody (especially the left) being so soft and having their feelings hurt all the time.

Also, what's incredible about the Michael Brown case is that if you actually read the reports and all of the evidence, you would know that the actions of the officer were totally justified. But, because it didn't fit the narrative of a lot of people, they started this "Hands up don't shoot" narrative (which never actually happened, and here we are. Truly incredible

Obama was chosen as black (semi) Moses when he was still in school in Columbia. He had several benefactors to assure he made it to the top.

Manti Te'o's fake girlfriend scandal shook this country to it's core.

Good for him. What's the point of pointing that out anyway?

Yeah, the Brown case is where it came apart at the seams. Totally unnecessary.

At least he stayed with his team instead of going to her funeral.

Just admit you don't know what benefactor means and move on.

Is this the one in Missouri? That's when "Black Lives Matter" started to really heat up right? There had to be someone with some type of political interest behind all of that. But whoever spearheaded it all.. I blame them for the deaths of the police who were shot by that Gavin frick.
